An Interview and Contest with The Blackraven Erotic Cafe!

Today I've been interviewed by The Blackraven Erotic Cafe! You can find out how I know that kids really DO lower your IQ, how I keep all those series straight in my head and what methods I used to try and escape Catholic school. I'll also be giving away a book, so comment or ask a question for a chance to win!

Decisions, Decisions

Today the migraine is at the "Okay, I don't hate hate you anymore" stage, which means I can go into the refrigerator for some iced tea without iron spikes jabbing into my eyeballs. I still can't leave the house, though, so for the third day in a row SuperDad is taking the kids to the bus stop. (I say SuperDad because he's doing it without caffeine.)

Now I have to decide if my brain will let me work or not. Bunny is starting to chatter again and I really need to work on him. If I'm going to attempt NaNoWriMo in November I have from now until the end of October to finish, polish, polish, polish. And in mid-October I'm going on a family-reunion type cruise with Dusty's mother's folks, so that will cut some time into the writing.

Huh. I was going to say maybe I'll take a stab at it, but all things considered that's a bad thing to say. I think, instead, I'll ease into it. I'll try some editing, see if my head explodes or not. If you're on the Eastern seaboard and you hear a kaboom, don't worry, it's just me.

Update from SuperDad: Apparently M decided to crawl around on all fours at the bus stop, baaa'ing and pretending to be a sheep. He would then stop and stare at the other kids because, well, he was an evil sheep. *headdesk*

Migraining

Have a migraine today so I won't be around much. Blech. Hopefully the meds will kill it before tomorrow. Have a Happy Tuesday!

Part-Ay!

Next
week kicks off Banned Books Week at the Samhain Cafe. Whether you agree or not with the premise behind it, everyone can agree with free books, right?

The Samhain Cafe will be partying from today, Saturday Sept. 26th, to Saturday, Oct. 3rd. Authors will be giving away books; Samhain Publishing will be giving away books. So even if you can't stop in today for my chat from noon - 1:30 (EST) make sure you check in during the week!

Note to self: Do not post before caffeine has kicked in because apparently I have the IQ of a gnat. Banned book week does NOT start today, but the 26th. And today is not the 26th. It's the 19th.

Still, I'll be chatting today from 12 - 1:30 and giving away a book, as promised. Just because I'm a dork doesn't mean you have to suffer.

Two Things...

One, I'm taking today off. I think even my toenails hurt. I'll be checking my email periodically but that's about it.

It's official. I am sick to death of rain.

The other thing is the Writeminded Blog Giveaway:

Starting Monday it’s going to get crazy around here. All day every day for the entire week and a few days into the next week as well! I’m going to give away lots and lots of ebooks. There’ll be a few other really cool prizes too so be sure to come hang out with us.

I thought I’d get all the fine print stuff out the way now and explain how it’s all going to work :)

There’ll be at least four prize posts per day. The ebook giveaways will each contain five ebooks. We’re going to post the covers and the blurbs with links to the author’s website, to an excerpt and of course the purchase link.

We have over ONE HUNDRED ebooks to give away weeee! How cool is that?

For more details and to see the ebooks being given away you'll need to check out their blog. Every day they're adding more books! Good luck!

Sully's Sweet

Has been submitted to Liquid Silver Books! I finally got it the way I wanted it. I wound up adding 6k words yesterday (and doesn't my hand just love me for that one!) to get it done in time.

Tomorrow I break Bunny out of the hoosegow and get back to work on him and Tabby. I'm roughly a third of the way done on Bear Necessities and I hope to have it completely done before the end of October. Preferably sooner. OH! And next month you'll see a free story by me, a Halloween themed one called Little Red. Rick and Belle throw a Halloween party at the lodge! I'm not sure when it will be available but it will be hosted by The Samhellion. I'll let you know more when I have more details.

I'm taking the rest of the day off. My hand feels like it's been through the meat grinder, but it was worth it!

Cover Goodness!

It's up, it's official! The cover art for Only In My Dreams!

Halle Pumas book 5 is coming November 10th!

Plots, Plans and Unexpected Twists

I was supposed to work through the weekend last week, but that didn't work out so well. The weekend turned into something of a nightmare. I wound up wishing away the rain so I could try and get some work done.

Arthritis sucks, but it sucks more when it's damp out.

I did get some work done, but nothing near what I had hoped to do. I wound up ripping into Sully's Sweet. I finally decided to listen to my instincts and chop out a portion of the story that seemed to make the whole thing drag. I lost roughly 2k but the story seems to flow much better now. I'm trying to finish it today so I can get back to Bunny full time.

I also decided that I'm going to do Jaden, Moira and Duncan for NaNoWriMo. Noble Blood is all outlined and ready to go as soon as I'm done with Bear Necessities. After that is December, the month of I-ain't-gettin'-nuthin'-done. I already know that due to the holidays things tend to happen too fast around here for me to work very much. I'll be back to work in January. If I have time, if I finish Bunny earlier than I think I will, I'm going to try and re-write book 2 of True Destiny, Eye of the Beholder. Before Angie left Samhain she told me there were things that needed to be re-written but I never learned what. Too many other things got in the way. I know it needs to be re-worked so I'm upping it on my priority list. At the worst I'll begin in January. After that? Hecate's Own! And at some point I really need to work on that stand-alone sci-fi story, Stern Negotiations...

Yup, I've got things plotted out waaaaay in advance. Now if only Ms. Muse will cooperate.

Tuesday? No, wait... Wednesday!

I keep forgetting what today is. Holiday weekends do that to me sometimes. Last night I was complaining because I was too tired to watch Ghost Hunters. Dusty looked at me and said, "It's Tuesday."

*blinkblink* "Um. I knew that."

He just shook his head and went back to his Blood Elf Paladin.

So I have to remind myself that I have to book if I'm going to finish Sully's Sweet by the time I need it done. Gah. The story is taking longer to get where I need it to go than I thought it would, and if there's one thing I've learned it's not to rush a story. It will finish when it finishes. Hopefully it will decide to finish before next week. *headdesk*

I've been thinking of NaNoWriMo, and the fact that I said I'd give it a try once both kids were in school. Hmm. I have two months to come up with how I'm going to do 50k in one month. I already know I can do half that, so I'm just going to roll up my sleeves and hope for the best. I already know who's story I'm going to try for, so that will help a lot. Jaden, you're turn is next!

Well, that's it for today. The caffeine hasn't quite kicked in yet, but I'm just about ready to start writing. Thank goodness for self-edits. Those first "I WANT COFFEE!" pages tend to get deleted before I send in the manuscript.

Holy Aching Fingers!

Somehow I managed to do almost 4k words yesterday. Four thousand. Thank you computer games for keeping my poor sickie busy yesterday. He drank juice, rested and saved the world all at the same time. He's feeling better today but is still home.

So the short story I'm working on for Valentine's Day for Liquid Silver Books is about half-way done. I'm going over it this morning to make sure it was a good 4k and not a meh 4k.

Work on Bunny is also progressing. I hit a point where I was thinking, "Now what. They've done the horizontal Bunny hop and now... hum." But I think I know now where to take it and keep the plot flowing. Sometimes working on something completely different clears my head a little, and Sully's Sweet is doing that nicely.

If I don't post over the next few days it's because of the holiday weekend. The kids are home Friday and Monday and, well, the monkeys will probably break out the blender. So if you don't hear from me enjoy your weekend!

Sickie

R was home from school sick yesterday and he'll be home again today. Le sigh. Poor kid has a head cold, fever and what might be a mild ear infection. He's tickled he doesn't have to go to school but not so happy that he's feeling blech.

So I did manage to get some work done on Bunny, but it was maybe a thousand words if I was lucky. Today I'm hoping to get more done, but we'll have to see how much "Mbombmby" is needed today.
