This has already been one heck of a week. Last week, I wound up not doing as much as I would have liked thanks to an arthritis flare-up that's still slowing me down a bit. This week...
This week has been edits, edits, and oh, have some more edits on us.

I feel his pain, but I'm still stealing his IV bag. |
The first round of edits on
Guardian Angel have come in, and I agree with most of what my Carina editor, Mallory, pointed out. It involves re-writes on the first thirty pages and tightening up some loose odds and ends. They'll probably take a little longer than I'm used to, but she's right on a lot of the stuff she pointed out so I'm biting the bullet and getting it done. The first round of edits are always the roughest, in my opinion, especially the first time you work with a new editor. You dance around each other a little, get a feel for one another, and in the end you hope like hell you're compatible. So far it looks like Mallory and I, like my Samhain editor Tera and I, are going to work together just fine. I even got to discuss a little of what I'd like to see on the cover of
Guardian Angel, and Mallory liked my ideas.
Speaking of Tera, I also got final line edits on
Cynful, which were much easier and only took a couple of hours to complete. Six weeks until it comes out! I can't wait for you to see how Julian and Cyn finally get together. It's a fun romp with some twists and turns that may surprise you.
And for those anxiously waiting for word, I'm not expecting to hear back on
The Hob until June something-or-other. If I hear back this month of course I'll let you all know, but it takes roughly eight to twelve weeks for the yea/nay, so be patient. I'll bite off all my fingernails for you, so you can do it vicariously and still have a nice manicure. Deal?
